Last week I needed the oil changed in my car so Friday morning I woke up and decided I would go into town a little earlier and get the oil changed and then head into work. I get to Randy’s (the oil place) and park my car and go into the lobby to take a seat and I planned to read my book while I waited. Well little did I know that I was about to have a ten minute conversation with a complete stranger.

You know when you walk into a place where people are seated and waiting, you look for a seat that is the furthest away from everyone else. Well I walk in and there is a lady and a man sitting waiting and then a boy playing with blocks on the floor. I sit in a chair in the middle of the two, but with about 2 chairs between both of them. I sit down, pull out my book and it started.

“I have family from Michigan coming in this week and I have to get ready for them.”

When I hear the lady beside me say this I look around to see who she is talking too and when I turned my head and looked at her, I realized it was me she was talking to. I look at her to see if I know her and I realize that I have no clue who the lady is. After about 30 seconds of me sitting there not saying anything, I respond, “Oh really, that sounds like fun.” And then I turn back and look down at my book to try to read, hoping the lady gets the hint that I was not interested in striking up a conversation with her.

Well the hint was not gotten. She continued to talk to me about her family from Michigan and how they were bringing their two big dogs, named Lance and Master (dumb names) and how they were inside dogs, but they were not staying inside her house and tearing up everything. After the family conversation, she quickly moved on to tell me how her husband is in the army and he might be going back to Iraq and how he was gone for most of her son’s childhood. But her dad was in the army so she’s used to this lifestyle.

Then she moves unto how her kids going to Doby's Mill Elementary, which is where Mary works. So after telling her that Mary works there, she goes on to say, I know her, I know her, she works at Doby's Mill, I know her—she got a little too excited that she knew my sister. Then she continues to tell me all the teachers/staff that Doby’s let go, due too the price cuts. Which lead to the how much she hated Obama and how bad of a man he is.

Finally, Sandy (the lady that works at the oil place) walks in and I think to myself thank God, please let my car or her car be ready. Sandy calls up the lady to the counter. What does she say when she gets up to the counter to pay?? “I have family from Michigan coming in this week and I have to get ready for them.”

I just start shaking my head because I’m like OMG here we go again. While she is talking to Sandy her son is picking up the blocks from the floor and putting them back into the toy box that they have in the lobby. Well she keeps saying “Son, we have to go, pick up your toys. Son, we have to go, pick up your toys.” Well the boy already had the toys picked up and had already walked out the door and went outside. And she continued to say “Son, we have to go, pick up your toys,” having no clue that her son was already gone and had already picked up the toys. Finally the lady finishes paying and talking to Sandy about her family coming into town and she turns around and sees that her son is gone. She grabs her pocketbook and then drops her keys and walks off. Of course I had to go pick up the keys and I caught up with her and I say, “maim you dropped your keys” and she turns around and says “Oh I guess I can’t go anywhere without those” and then she says “We have to go, family is coming in” and walks off and I just turn around shaking my head, smiling.
What a life I have – I have good health, a roof over my head, food on the table and most of all, love and happiness. I have such a blessed life.

I have so many people in my life that provides me with love and happiness. First and foremost, the love I have for my Lord, Jesus Christ. If someone cannot find happiness in there life I challenge you to try Jesus. Love him with all you heart and soul and I promise you will truly feel the presence of God in your life and you will forever be changed because I know I am changed.

Then there is my wonderful loving husband. We have known each other and been together around eleven years and he still amazes me everyday. He shows me unconditional love everyday. Every morning when the alarm goes off and he rolls over and kisses me on my shoulder it shows me the love he has for me.

I know everyone says they have the best parents, but I honestly believe I do. My mom is truly my best friend and I know I can go to her with anything. She is such a wonderful lady who would give you the shirt off her back if you needed it. My dad has sacrificed everything for his family. He probably has been on the road more in his life then he has been at home, but he does it all to support his family. Every time I think about how much my dad has given up to provide for my mom and my sisters, I get tears in my eyes because it just shows me the love he has for his family. I also have two wonderful sisters. Not a lot of people can say that they are close to their siblings, but Mary, April and I are. Like my mom I can go to them with anything. I look up to both of them for the wonderful Christian lives they both live. And my wonderful Meme and Poppy, who amaze me everyday with their devotion to God.

Then there is my precious angel, Makaylee. When Mary was pregnant with Makaylee, I was excited on becoming an aunt and I knew I would love her, but I had no idea how much. Makaylee has brought so much joy and laughter into my life and every time I hear her say Aunt Wawee my heart just melts.

Next are the five girls who are my true friends. I have never been the type of girl that believed that life was measured by the quantity of friends, but it’s measured by the quality of friends. And I have some amazing girls in my life. Maegen, my life-long friend. We have been friends since age four. Most of all my life’s adventures have been tackled with Maegen. She is the one I can tell anything too and know I will get great advice in return. Katie, my partner in crime. Katie and I met in middle school and always have great times together and we always share a million laughs together. Lauren, my roommate. We lived together for four-and-a-half years and have shared some awesome memories at Winthrop together. Brittany, the one I clicked with. One day we met and the next day we were staying up all night watching TV together and that continued for the next two years. I have never met someone that I clicked with so quickly with and then stayed great friends with. Caitlin, the fun friend. Whenever I am with Caitlin I am having so much fun. We always laugh and act silly together. Caitlin is also the type of person I can go a year without talking too and when we do finally talk, it is like no time has passed. I am so thankful for the five girls God blessed me with. I treasure all the memories I have made with each one of them.

I am also blessed with a job. Even though it is not my “dream” job and I’m not doing what I went to college to do, I still have job. And at my job I work with some great ladies. I have made some wonderful friendships at work. I laugh with them, cry with them -- maybe we do that a little too much, haha -- and vent about life and especially customers. But I love them all and they add a little more happiness in my life.

I thank God for bringing each on of you in my life and for all the memories we have shared together. I love you all and thanks for bringing happiness into my life.
As all of you know, I am a bank teller. With any job I’m sure all of you have your share of funny stories about your patients, students, customers, fellow employees and etc. well after two years of being a teller, I have a fair share of stories and I would like to share some of my favorites.

One day a lady drives up at my drive-thru. Like a lot of customers, the lady asked for her balance of her checking account. So I send her balance out and she looks at it and says “that’s way too much.” After thinking about the balance for awhile she then asks me if I could tell her what checks had not cleared yet. Well of course I am not going to know what checks have not cleared yet because I have no clue what checks you have written. So I try to explain to the lady that I would not have any clue what checks have not cleared, so what is her response? “Why don’t you know, you are the teller.” Well yes lady I’m a TELLER not a PSYCHIC, so I’m sorry I don’t know what checks you have written and people have not cashed. After a few minutes of me explaining this too her and with her not understand what I was saying she finally drives off. Sorry lady, next time I will work on my psychic abilities for you.

One day an old lady came thru the drive-thru. Like lots of customers, this lady had her little dog with her and the dog was super excited. The lady didn’t seem like she was too fond of the dog and she kept slapping at the dog to get him down from her window. But that didn’t stop the dog. As soon as the lady starts to drive off, what does the dog do? Jumps out of the old lady’s window and takes off. What does the lady do? Pulls off and stops for like 30 seconds and then drives off. Where is the dog? Running around the gas station parking lot that is beside us. What am I doing? Hanging out the window trying to get the dog to come back in our parking lot. After about 10 minutes of me and another teller hanging out the window yelling for that dog, one of our customers grab the dog and brings her inside. I look up the old lady’s phone number, figuring I would just have to leave a message, since I knew she wouldn’t go home without her dog, but to my amazement she answers the phone like nothing had happen. I tell her we have her dog and need her to come get him and after a lot of consideration it seemed like the old lady agreed and came and picked up her dog.

A scruffy man walks up to my counter one day, puffing away on his cigarette. Yes, inside the bank. I was so shocked at what I was seeing I didn’t even say anything because I was in disbelief of what I was seeing.

One lady came in on a Monday morning and told me about the broil on her rear-end that came up over the weekend. And how she soaked it and put cream on it, but nothing helped. So finally her husband took her to the hospital at 3 in the morning. And as that was not bad enough. She then continued to tell me that the doctor said there was nothing he could do about it until it came to a head and then he would have to suck the puss out of it. Omg, did you really need to tell your bank teller that information and especially in a lobby full of people.

So it continues with another rear-end story. A totally different customer comes in and informs me about the fisher she has. Now I don’t know if that is spelled correctly, but what I got from the conversation was that a fisher is a hole that grows in your butt crack and is very painful. She tells me how she can sit and how it is very painful to wipe after she takes a crap. She had surgery on it and she comes in after that and tells me about wrapping her butt up and blah blah blah. Well guess what? The surgery didn’t work and she has to get it done again. So what does that mean? I will get to hear all about her rear-end problems for at least another year. Lucky Me!

An older man comes to the bank at least three times a week and usually doesn’t have an outstanding balance. One day he comes in and asks if he can get $5 out of his account. I inform him that he only has a dollar in his account. So then he asks if he can get three dollars and I say you only have a dollar and so then he asks for two dollars. Haha, he ended up leaving with one dollar.

Those are just a few I could think of right off the top of my head, but I have lots more, so I might have to update. I hope they got a few little laughs.
I have been trying to read a lot more lately and once I get into book, I really do enjoy reading. It is just making that move and starting a new book I have trouble with. So I have been trying to read a book and once I finish I start another one right away.

My goal is to read all the Nicholas Spark books. Out of the 16 books he has written, I have read 5 and I have seen The Notebook, Message in the Bottle and A Walk to Remember, so I am not going to read those. So that totals 8 books to read, so half way there. I just finished reading, The Last Song, which was WONDERFUL. I have not seen the movie yet, but heard it was pretty good. I have never cried so much in one of his books. I usually tear up in all his books, but this one had me sobbing, haha. If you haven’t read it, I highly recommend it. It is Nicholas Sparks’ longest book, but I read 240 pages in one day, it is just that good. Currently I am reading, A Bend in the Road, which I have also heard it is a lot of people’s favorite book from his collection.

Other then the Nicholas Spark books, I have another list I would like to read.

MommyWood – Tori Spelling --- anything that has anything to do with people from 90210, I’m in)
Sweet Little Lies – Lauren Conrad
The Twilight Series
Sliding into Home – Kendra Wilkinson

If anyone has any other great books they have read, I would love to hear about them!
You know how you go somewhere like a wedding, church, a restaurant or anywhere and you find that one person you cannot stop staring at? You try your best not to stare you try to get your attention directed to something else, but you just cannot help but stare. And it is not because they are cute or anything--it is because they are SUPER goofy. Well that happened to me this weekend.

David, Lauren, Garrett and I went to Linda Hellstein, a college friend’s, wedding this past weekend at Historic Camden. Right when we all sat down, our attention went straight over to this goofy guy sitting across from us. Not only did he remind me of Patrick Norton, my Lugoff-Elgin friends will know who I’m talking about, but he was wearing this pastel yellow vintage-looking sport coat, which reminded me of Dr. Fisher’s famous vintage blue sport coat he wore everyday to Media Law. Anyways, all of us noticed him and of course I couldn’t keep my eyes off of him. Every time he made a move, my eyes went straight too him, just waiting for him to do something. Most people at the wedding opted to sit in the back because there was more shade, but in the back you couldn’t really hear anything. So what did Yellow Jacket Guy do during the wedding? Gets up and walks down the aisle to get a closer seat because he couldn’t hear. Whenever I saw him get up out of his seat, I grabbed David’s arm and was like, OMG what is he about to do? It ended up to be harmless, but still I was nervous he was about to run up to the front and say he objected or something. After the ceremony was over, we were all standing in the back talking to Josh and who comes up beside us? Yes, Yellow Jacket Guy. What do I notice beside his horrendous outfit?? He is wearing TEVA sandals. Yes, you heard me right, TEVAs. I haven’t seen someone wearing Teva sandals in probably ten years, well besides when I went white water rafting. But NEVER to a wedding. If anyone doesn’t know what Teva sandals are, go look them up.

So we get to the reception at the TenEleven Galleria and who do I start looking for when we get there, Yellow Jacket Guy, which I tried to switch his name to Teva Boy, but my crew was getting confused to whom I was talking about. When Yellow Jacket Guy got there he showed us some of his dance moves and that he knew how to shake his bum bum. I enjoyed watching how he devoured all the Hors D’oeuvres, which consisted of cheese cubes, Ritz crackers and baby sweet and dill pickles. So how he stayed so long at that table and continued to go back to that table just blew my mind. But anyways Yellow Jacket Guy or Teva Boy made my night.

Its little things like that, that just make you smile and makes your night. Whoever Yellow Jacket Guy is, I was truly grateful you were at the wedding because you made me smile!
I am really excited about starting my new blog! I have been thinking about blogging a lot lately and decided, what the heck just go for it! I don’t think my life is too too interesting, but hopefully I will be able to entertain ya’ll. Living in a small town and working at a bank in the town, I hear and see a lot of things and most of the time it is very comical. So I will try to entertain with stories about my life, my precious little niece, working in my small town and of course I have to throw in some oldies but goodie’s. So read, enjoy and of course you better leave me some comments :)
